Hedge Week Special Report - Hedge Fund Managed Accounts 201006 Janvier 2010 |
The turmoil that enveloped the hedge fund industry over the past two years as returns plummeted, investors rushed to redeem their holdings and managers stuck with illiquid holdings were forced to impose gates or suspend redemptions has given a substantial boost to the use of managed account structures by institutional investors. The big question is how far can the trend go: will managed accounts replaced pooled funds as the default investment choice, or will interest subside as memories of the crisis of 2008 fade?
This special report by Hedge Week addresses these issues.

The Hedge Fund Journal: Managed Accounts Conference04 Novembre 2009 |
This report is a summary of a half-day conference hosted by The Hedge Fund Journal on the subject of managed accounts. The conference was sponsored by Lyxor and other major industry players and examined the following questions:
Just how significant is the shift of assets into managed accounts?
Is it a temporary phenomenon, a flash in the pan if you like? Or is it a long term structural change in the industry being driven primarily by a change (or re-weighting) in investor preferences?

Opalesque Roundtable Series 2009 - France02 Novembre 2009 |
This Roundtable was organized in Paris by Opalesque and gathered 12 experts of the alternative investment industry to look at the growing importance of the UCITS model, with a specific focus on the French market.
UCITS III have turned things around – substantially.
However, a lot of people, especially non Europeans, assume that the UCITS 3 format is homogeneous in Europe, whereas in practice this is not the case. For example, there are huge differences between a Luxembourg or Ireland and a France based UCITS III fund. There were issues for both Luxemburg and Ireland domiciled funds related to Madoff and Lehman, and this Roundtable elaborates on the superior regulation on the manager and the security of the funds and investments within the French framework, which with the new “Fond Contractuel” framework has become flexible and interesting enough to compete even on a global scale.
This Roundtable also examines why the French fund of funds largely outperformed their international peers, the pros and cons of UCITS generally, and what to do with non-UCITsable hedge fund strategies.
